Survival Craft vs. Minecraft: Terrain Edition

One of the key factors [besides lack of challenge] that drove me away from MC was the lack of interesting features in the terrain.

Just look at these pictures. I'll be comparing Ocean, Wasteland, Jungle, Forest, Desert, Snowy, and Mountains.

Ocean

The oceans are similar, but SC's ocean is deeper, where as MC's ocean is rather shallow. [Not to mention SC's sunset is a lot more pleasing and realistic.]

Wasteland

MC's wasteland is just a bunch of dirt... SC's is dry grass, the occasional tree, grass traps, and graves.

Jungle

MC's Jungle is a lot of tall trees and vines. SC's Jungle is trees, ivy, lots of pumpkins, cotton and other plants, lakes, hills, etc.

Forest

MC's forest isn't very interesting... Just trees and sheep. SC's forest, however, has hills, valleys, springs and pools, and lots of lush vegetation such as cotton and pumpkins.

Desert

As for the desert, they're pretty much the same terrain wise. Flat, occasional hills, and cacti.

Snowy

The snowy biomes are similar in both, but SC's are more icy, mountainous, etc.

Mountains

MC's mountains are not constructed very well. They appear to be thrown together whereas SC's mountains look more neat and realistic.

So what do you think? SC or MC's terrain?

Watch out for the Cassowaries!

As of the 1.26 update, SC now has a new bird - Cassowaries!

Above is one I found on the shore. I was not expecting anything like this when I updated to 1.26! I've been wanting some new birds. Maybe a crow or flamingo or something. But this was a HUGE surprise!

I seem to find them in the deserts and on the edge of Jungle/Forest areas.

I also tried to feed the Cassowary various foods with no luck. I later found out from a friend on the SC Wiki, Germanium.power, that they eat pumpkins!

Cassowaries are also VERY aggressive, so be careful when you encounter one. I was attacked and killed by one when I got too close. But I did get a picture before I died:

I haven't quite figured out all of the Cassowaries stats yet... But I plan to work on it.

If you would like to view the info. I do have on the bird, you can visit this link: http://survivalcraftgame.wikia.com/wiki/Cassowary

After doing some research, I learned that Cassowaries are the deadliest birds in the world, and they are BIG. Take a look at the size comparrison below:

I sure wouldn't want to run into one! They can kill you with their claws on their feet, or headbutt you with the dense, bone crest on it's head... Scary...

That's all for now! Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, and I'll be back Monday or Tuesday!

Whales, Whales, Whales

I have some amazing whale pictures to show you today.

I was super excited when 1.26 came out. I could not wait to find the Beluga Whale!!

And here it is:

And of course, the Beluga Spraying Water [Picture was taken by my friend, Quintillus54, as were some of the above Beluga pictures and below Orca pictures]

And why not throw in some Orca pics too :)

This picture is one of my favorites. These whales were found by Quintillus54 [We were playing together. So I have no idea who took the picture :) ]

I had a great time whale watching. 1.26 has, by far, been my favorite update.
And next time, I have a special post, with all of my favorite SC moments.

Animal Aggresssion

As promised, I am back to talk about animal aggression, and I have pictures :)

Animal aggression is one of my favorite things concerning the 1.26 update. It allows for more challenge in the game. Instead of only having to search for food, you must protect your livestock, search for food, and then compete with carnivores for the food.

Take a look at what I found while taking a stroll through the forest just minutes after updating to 1.26:

While walking through the forest, I heard a Tiger roar. I turned around to fight it, but to my surprise, 3 Boars were attacking the Tiger!

I did not expect to see such a display so soon! It was magnificent. Kaalus really out-did himself with this update.

UP NEXT TIME:
Whale Pictures!! I have some Beluga Whale and Orca pictures depicting the new 1.26 Whale Behavior.
And a surprise picture :)

It's 12/13/14!! How exciting!!

Anyway, my blog has reached over 2000 views!! I'm soooo excited! And I want to thank everyone who reads my blog and follows me on Google+. I really do appreciate it :)

1.26

How is everyone liking the 1.26 update? I LOVE IT! It has been the biggest, most demanding update yet! I love the clothing and new survival mechanics! And pumpkin farming has been going good for me. It's really useful :)

Please leave a comment below telling us your favorite 1.26 feature!

Wanted Animals

The animals are my favorite part of SC. So I started thinking about what animals I would like to see in the game. And who knows, Kaalus may see this and get an idea :)

Birds: Emu, Eagle, Hawk, Swans, Geese, Flamingo, Penguins, Crow
Mammals: Kangaroo, Fox, Rare Arctic Fox, Leopard, Jaguar, Cougar, Elephant, Rabbit, Anteater, Monkey, Moose, Deer, Antelope, Panda, Koala, Raccoon, Porcupine, Sheep, Goats, Tame Pigs, Skunk
Water Animals: Dolphins, Jellyfish, Eels, Bigger Sharks, More Fish Types, Seahorse, Seal
Other: Alligator, Frog, Snake
Mountable: Mule

What do you guys think? Agree? Any other animals you want to see?

I'd especially like to see Porcupines. They're cute :)

Animal Aggression

I know I promised the next post on the new animal aggression behavior form 1.26, but I've had some trouble uploading my pictures.
I'll have it within the next day or so :)

FamilyPhoto2

Wetness and Body Heat are now visible in your stats too. You get wet from rain or getting in water, and you must dry yourself out or you can freeze in cold climates. You must also wear lighter clothing in deserts and heavier clothing in cold areas.

The cassowary, barracuda, and beluga whale were all added as well. The cassowary is a massive bird with a deadly kick. The barracuda is a nocturnal vicious fish that will swim long distances to find you. And for those of you who have been following my blog, you have seen the new beluga whale and whale behavior.

But here are the cassowaries and barracudas:

Cassowary

Leather is now acquired from wolves, and from bears, you get a new item: Fur. It can be made into clothing/armor.
Fur
The thing I'm most excited about is Pumpkin Farming. I've been waiting for soooo long, hoping it would come! There are multiple stages in the Pumpkins growth, and it seems to be fairly realistic. As you can see in the picture below, they even appear to be growing in a vine-like structure:

PumpkinFarming

What does everyone think about 1.26?
I'll be posting again soon on the new animal aggression feature. I'll be sure to add some pictures too :)
